Octavo. Tan cloth covered boards and spine with bright red lettering on both the spine and the front board. Book has a faint bump at the head and tail of the spine and at the very tips of a couple of the corners. White endpapers. Binding is straight and tight. Pages are all clean, white, and crisp. 392 pages. Dust Jacket has light rubbing at the head and tail of the spine and at the tips of the four outside corners. Just a trace of rubbing all along the upper and lower edges of the jacket. There are a couple 1/4" closed tears in the lower edge of the rear covert with a faint wrinkle between them. Original $4.00 price on the upper corner of the front inside flap. Kirkus Reviews wrote, of Carroll's book, that it is "The story of psychological warfare where the battleground is the mind both of the enemy and of ourselves, by the director of the OWI (Office of War Information) in London who superintended the operations in the European theatre. A running history, this completes Edmond Taylor's Strategy of Terror (1940) as it traces the use of psychological warfare from the bungling African campaign and the Darlan affair through the invasion of Germany and the Gotter-dammerung of Goebbels."
