Quarto. (1) 31pp., foldout map. Original tan string bound wraps with black lettering on cover. Supplement issue # 82 for "Petermanns Mitteilungen (Petermann's Messages)." An overview of all "Pacific Railways" in operation completed in 1885, before the author fell gravely ill and passed away in June 1885. Before going to press the newest events had to be added to Robert's work by his brother Emil. The work provides a historical overview of the railroad, elaborates on the Northern and Southern Pacific Railroad and the connection between the two. Illustrated with tables and a detailed map of the railroad network in the United States at rear. List of supplements on inside back cover and back cover. Text in German. Binding loose, light wear along edges of wraps, small chips and creasing. Wraps age toned and some pages unopened at top. Wraps and interior in overall good- to good+ condition, map near fine.
