# AS PICTURED # This is the original Fine Paper Edition of this work (1920), having been originally published in 1868, and revised in 1886. 16mo; dark blue-green boards with titles in blind to front and spine. Predominantly square and tidy, with some light soiling and bubbling, spine somewhat faded but legible. Contains the original, and updated Prefatory Notices by Rossetti. This latter has a tiny ink annotation to record the date of Whitman's death in 1892. Followed by the Preface to Leaves of Grass, which concludes with a facsimile of an inscription and signature by Whitman. The original Postscript of 1868 is included. Contents tight, bright and clean, with no other annotations or inscriptions beyond a tiny name to ffep corner. This charming small book, ( albeit a full 315pp ) remains a witness to a time when Whitman's popularity had grown in Britain since the First Edition of 1868, which had cause to remark the severe criticism heaped upon him in his native America.
