An important collection of Orientalia. James D. Julia Inc., Fairfield, Maine. Dr. Helga Wall-Apelt during her lifetime gathered a wonderful collection of Orientalia. The collection consisted of important jade, furniture, bronzes, porcelain and much, much more. Her exciting collection of jade was the subject of a special book titled ?The Yangtze River Collection of Later Chinese Jades?. The jade collection in August of 1993 was on display at the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, Florida. The collection included an extraordinary and vast array of 19th century Asian photographs. The auction included her massive gilt lacquer wood figure of Virocana. This rare, large and impressive item was estimated $40,000-$60,000 blew beyond its estimate to finally sell at $379,200. The catalog also includes a prices realized sheet for all of the objects in the auction. The Julia Auction Company, which handled this collection, was world renowned for their quality auctions and spectacular catalogs. This catalog was a special post auction hard bound catalog produced in limited number. The catalog is absolutely gorgeous and Julia?s catalogs were generally considered the finest in the industry.
