The first, second, and third dialogues are all third editions, the fourth a second edition, and the fifth and final dialogue a first edition. Contemporary green cloth-backed paper boards, recent printed paper lettering-piece to spine. Slight rubbing, some damp staining to boards, corners bumped. Armorial bookplate of William Hutchinson to FEP, with his ownership inscription to FFEP, lightly foxed. James Shergold Boone's (1798-1859) verse satire of undergraduate life at Oxford university, criticising the curriculum and examinations. The work caused a sensation, with the first four dialogues appearing in 1818 and running through several editions that same year, with the fifth and last dialogue being issued in 1819. Size: 8vo.
