This is for a single print titled below within print Old Nicks Pastime Sept. 12th 1808. Condition fair/good, some dirt, stain top left by shield, fold marks (as was folded when within book), size is 23 x 33 cm approx, it is glued to thicker paper (old, with some dirt / folds to edge/corner, which can be trimmed) the full size therefore is 31.25 x 40.5 cm approx.It has no artist name, as it was originally published in the anonymous tome Old Nick's pocket-book; or, hints for "A ryghte pedantique ande mangleinge" publication, to be called "My Pocket-Book". By Himself, printed by J. Moyes; for Sherwood, Neeley, and Jones. 1808. This print shows Edward Dubois as the devil cutting up Sir John Carr's book on Ireland with a knife & fork at the same time as he is offered the freedom of the Butchers' Company, representatives of which are entering through a door labelled Mangling Done Here. The book was written by an anonymous friend of Carr, who was against Dubois satire of Sir John Carr's book on Ireland and Carr's legal case that came before Lord Ellenborough and a special jury, at Guildhall, 1 Aug. 1808, when the judge summed up strongly in favour of the publishers of the book by Edward Dubois, and the verdict was given for them. Dubois had mocked the style of Carr's books, Sir John Carr lost his case. Very rare Size: 23 x 33cm.approx. Seller Inventory # 002674
