This series of eleven novels, written between 1940 and 1970, explores the social, political, and ethical dilemmas faced by its characters, particularly focusing on the life and career of the central character, Lewis Eliot. 8vo. 311 pp. A near fine copy in the publishers blue cloth, gilt titles to the spine in a very good and bright pictorial dust wrapper designed by Cecil Walter Bacon.
