Hardcover: Very Good. First edition, thus. Binding square and tight. Text block cealn and unmarked save early owner s name in pencil (Harrison S. Woodman). Paste-downs have a nice alpine illustration; there are four full color plates, two within text, a frontispiece and the title page, all in good condition. Blue Cloth boards in good condition with gilt titles and an elaborate multi-color floral design on the front cover. Spyri is the author of the acclaimed children s book Heidi from which the 1937 Shirley Temple movie was drawn. Spyri was a prolific writer.
