1948. Presumed firs edition. Unpaginated but 32 pages including the title page and 14 full page colour illustrations. There is also a half-page colour illustratrion and other small brown drawings. With the text in Czech(? or maybe Slovak), this beautifully illustrated book contains fifteen short poems by the Czech poet Frantisek Hrubín (1910-1971). Apart from the first poem which has a half-page illustration, the poems are accompanied on the facing page with a colour pastel illustration by Josef Capek (1887-1945), the famous Czech artist who was best known as a painter, but who was also noted as a writer and a poet. The poems were apparently written in response to Capek's pastel drawings more than ten years after they were drawn.The book is bound in the original light blue paper covered boards with a darker blue cloth spine. There is no titling but there is a small blue illustration on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and some soiling and a few small stains on the boards. The spine ends and corners are bumped with a little damage and loss to the paper on the tips of the front corners. The contents are tight and clean with a neatly written inscription on the front free endpaper. Seller Inventory # VIChild033
