[DIX, DOROTHEA L.]. Memorial. [Trenton, 1845]. 39 p., folding table. Removed from a bound volume. Partly exscinded old ownership stamp on title, a few marginal stains, but good-plus. First edition of Dix's famous plea to the New Jersey legislature to establish a state hospital. "I come to solicit your attention to the condition and necessities of Idiots, Epileptics, and the Insane poor in the State of New Jersey.'' A second edition of Dix's moving address appeared later in the year. Dix's efforts were successful, and a state asylum was erected in Trenton; today a part of that facility bears her name.
