About this Item
The Manufacture of Crucible Steel. " A short illustrated description of The Crucible Steel Process, printed for Edgar Allen & Co. Limited, Imperial Steel Works, Sheffield, for private circulation." No publisher's name is given and no date but I believe it to be dated 1926. A presumed First and only Edition. Hardcover. Size: 8 1/2 x 11 inches. Page number: 28. Grey boards with cream paste down and black tiles. Within a two page introduction - Crucible Cast Steel, its Discovery and Manufacture - then The Crucibles, Moulding Clay, Pressing Pots , Baking Pots, Raw Materials, Breaking Blister Steel etc, each page being illustrated with a photograph and having only a small amount of accompanying text. Condition: Very Good. The boards are reasonably clean, the corners only a little rubbed. There is a some loss to the base of the spine (a 1/2 inch) and a small piece is missing in the middle of the front of the spine. The pages within are clean but for a bit of dust on the very top edge. They are not tanned or thumbed: there is only one spot, a fox mark, on the last page. The binding is tight but there is one break at the hinge on page 4 and a break starting at another point. The process by which the photographs have been printed on the page has caused the paper to ripple slightly. Seller Inventory # 000372
