Gift inscription on front free endpaper as follows: "June 14, 1992 | Gordon -- | I know 2 of Meyers | Sons & His Grandson | is in the Fly Club | Harold R. Beeman." 8vo. [12]1-309p. Illustrated with 18 full-page black and white captioned photos, including one of he author Charles E. Myers. Decorative endpapers. Maroon buckram with gilt letters on the front cover and the spine. Just hints of wear to extremities, covers clean and bright, gilt bright (!), all photos in fine condition, else fine with no internal markings. Born in Homerville, Ohio in 1866, Charles E. Myers moved to Washington in 1888 and settled in Davenport. Teacher, politician, civic leader, jeweler, store keeper, optometrist, and sportsman, Lincoln County pioneer Charley Myers was a highly respected man and much beloved citizen. Myers was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, who was Chairman of the Lincoln County game commission, as well as a State Senator (1909-1913). "In MEMOIRS OF A HUNTER Myers has drawn upon his many experiences in the mountains, on lakes and streams, and in the field. The stories he relates are filled with humorous incidents and practical comments which make them at once interesting and helpful, not only to the novice, but to the seasoned outdoorsman as well." [from the dust jacket] The book tells of his 38 consecutive annual deer hunting expeditions with a group of friends including Judge C A Pettijohn and Jim Goodwin.
