True first British printing, undated however 1948. With original unclipped jacket (7s 6d). Illustrated by Stuart Boyle. Jacket has faults - namely edge/shelf wear, patchy loss (mainly to head/tail of spine and to corners), few tears, creasing/rubbing to edges, little pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine, a few marks, patchy browning (including to spine), pushing/bumping to corners, minor foxing, one small hole to back and is in only fair condition. Boards are near fine (having been well protected by the jacket) with very minor pushing/bumping to corners, the odd small bump, minor patchy rubbing to edges and minor pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine. Minor spine lean. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Top of pages dyed blue. Pages bit tanned. Odd small mark/spots of foxing to page edges and bottoms. Previous owner's name, date and location in pen to front blank page. Very occasional small mark/spot of foxing to pages. Small bookseller's sticker inside front board. No other faults.
