Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for a F/O bookplate on the front pastedownl, and old price on the FFFP in pencil, and some initials on the rear pastdown in pencil. Book Condition: Very Good +; light shelfwear to head, tail, tips, and board bottom edges. No DJ. Green cloth boards and spine with bright gilt lettering on the spine and front board; textblock top in gilt; deckle fore edge and textblock bottom edge. Clean internals. Inner hinges are sound and not split. 202 pp 12mo. The is a book of 67 poems by the author. He was an American journalist and bibliophile who also wrote light verse for adults and children. The best years of his life were spent in Chicago as contributing editor to The Chicago Record. In his daily column of Sharps and Flats appeared his most characteristic verse, which was later collected to form this book. Published in 1889, this anthology captures the essence of the American Midwest, drawing inspiration from Field's own childhood experiences in the region. A clean very presentable copy.
