Written by the American who won the first recorded tennis tournament in the US and who was known as the founding father of American tennis, James Dwight (1852 -1917). Dwight introduced the sport in America after an 1874 trip to Europe. Dwight founded the US National Lawn Tennis Association and won five national doubles titles from 1882-1884; in 1885 he reached the semi finals at Wimbledon. 12mo, 94pp, ads [xii].
