First edition. Small octavo. Printed wrappers bound into full blue cloth with leather spine label gilt. Bookplates of Eva La Gallienne and the Civic Repertory Theatre, else very near fine. Daughter of the poet Richard Le Gallienne, Eva was a distinguished actress, producer, and director. She founded the Civic Repertory Theatre in New York in the 1920s. In 1964 she was presented with a special Tony Award celebrating her 50th year as an actress and honoring her work with the National Repertory Theatre. In 1977 she won a Theatre World Special Award, and in 1986 she received the National Medal of Arts. A play about Florence Nightingale that was the basis for a 1951 film directed by Herbert Wilcox and featuring Anna Neagle and Michael Wilding. Seller Inventory # 340242
