First UK edition, first printing - with "First published in Great Britain 1960" stated on the copyright page. Measuring approximately 8.25" x 5.5", with 296 numbered pages. This book is in very good condition. Minor wear to the edges of the boards. Old bookseller ticket on the front pastedown. Previous owner's bookplate on the front endpaper. Minor staining to the front endsheets. Interior pages are otherwise clean and well preserved. The original first edition dust jacket is in very good minus condition. Minor chipping to the spine ends and extremities. Jacket is evenly age toned. Original price is present on the bottom of the front flap. "To Kill a Mockingbird" was instantly successful upon publication in 1960. The plot and characters are loosely based on Lee's observations of her family, her neighbors and an event that occurred near her hometown of Monroeville, Alabama in 1936 when she was 10.
