About this Item
Some shelf wear and tear to unclipped DJ with minor loss to spine extremities, corners lightly bumped, light sunning to board edges, fly shadows to endpapers, minor foxing to edges of reading block. ; Green cloth boards with red lettering to spine. Nice tight copy, no names or marks inside. DJ artwork by Doris Beer. Heavy book and priced accordingly. ; B&W Illustrations; 512 pages; Set in Boston just prior and during World War II. Nothing could be more dissimilar than the two sides of Boston's famous Beacon Hill. On the slope toward the Common from Mount Vernon, the cross streets are lined with fine old houses, possessed by fine old New England families; on the slope from Mount Vernon toward Cambridge Street, dingy tenements precariously occupied by aliens are interspersed with delicatessen and other small shops, obscure offices and unpretentious eating places. And nowhere is this contrast more marked than on Joy Street. Seller Inventory # 20657
