Store Description
The most convenient form of payment is through ABE or, if you prefer, through PayPal. I also
accept domestic checks, US postal money orders and Western Union payments. I recommend
Western Union for overseas customers who do not wish to use PayPal. I will invoice libraries and
other institutions upon request. Please note that I DO NOT accept direct payment by credit card
or by bank-to-bank wire transfer owing to the significant fees which always seem to be
deducted from the amount received.
Domestic shipping charges reflect the ever-changing USPS shipping rates. The charges for standard domestic shipments are based on books and catalogs sent by Media Mail. There will be no extra-item surcharge as long as the total weight of the shipment does not exceed 4 pounds. The Priority rate assumes that the order will fit in a flat-rate USPS box. There will be no extra-item surcharge as long as a second package is not required. Conversely, if the package is much lighter (as is normally the case for exhibition catalogs) the actual charge for both Media and Priority Mail will be reduced. (I do not operate my "shipping department" as a profit center.) For international shipments (including Canada and Mexico) the matter is more complicated. The USPS discontinued all classes of surface mail for overseas shipments many years ago and the only options are priority or regular air mail. My rates reflect the following conditions: If a book or catalog will fit securely in a regular envelope the cost will be $18.50 or less. For items which need to be boxed owing to their dimension, weight or fragility the rate will be $25.00 for an item which weighs 2 pounds. Based on the actual weight the cost may be lower or higher, with a maximum (in most cases) of $65.00 for as many items as will safely fit into a standard flat-rate box irrespective of weight. As with domestic mail there will be no extra-item surcharge so long as the order will fit in a single envelope or box. However, I strongly advise overseas customers to query me for the actual cost of shipment before placing an order; please do not assume that it can be sent at the $18.50 rate, or else don't be surprised if I request additional postage. I will gladly quote rates for private carriers such as UPS or FedEx, as well as for Express Mail service from the US Postal Service.
