First American edition, stated. Translated from the German for the first time by H. T. Lowe-Porter. Bound in black boards with blind title imprint on the front board and gold lettering on the spine; top page edges tinted yellow (here faded and with a few spots). A former owner name and 1935 on the second front endpaper; peeling and remnants of what looks like a library pocket on the inside back board, though no other library markings; spine slant; corners sharp, spine ends bumped. The dust jacket is not price-clipped (original price $2.50 net); heavily chipped and edgeworn, with a large piece missing at the head of the spine; spine is age-darkened; Brodart protected.
