Large 8vo. xlviii, 569p. Translated by J.G. Howard. Forewords by Bishop F.C. Kelley and H.B. Workman. Frontispiece black and white image of Wesley from the painting by Frank O. Salisbury plus 10 other black and white captioned photos throughout. Maroon cloth with gilt letters on the spine. Just touches of wear to extremities, cloth clean, spine slightly faded, gilt bright, rubber stamp on top edge of textblock (Regina Cell School Library, but no other library markings), all illustrations present and in fine condition, previous owner's signature, front free endpaper clipped at top right corner, else near fine to fine with no internal markings. No dust jacket. A standard biography of John Wesley by a Roman Catholic scholar, Maximin Piette, who was educated at the Louvain and Harvard and who was Professor of History in the University of Brussels.
