Neat stamp of 'Imperial Book Depot, Dehli' at foot of title-page. *** The author was Governor of Bengal from 1917 to 1922 and Secretary of State for India between 1937 and 1940. He believed that India should be allowed increasing levels of Home Rule, eventually resulting in Dominion status. *** Inscription on front free end-paper otherwise a near fine copy without any damage, library stamps or other markings.
