Poetry in a patriotic vein, with meditations on the greatness of American freedom, home, and liberty, and the general nastiness of Russian tyranny and its czars, specifically in regard to its conduct in the Napoleonic Wars and the return of Poland to Russian control. The anti-Russian poems include "Arraignment of Russia", "A Warning to Columbia" , "By Kosciusko's Dust" and "Warnings from Elder Days". Aella Greene (b 1838 - ?) was a Springfield, Massachusetts poet and journalist who wrote for newspapers in Western Massachusetts, including a series of articles on the Underground Railroad and contemporary attitudes toward slavery.
