About this Item
Near Fine in a Near Fine dustjacket. Blue boards. The spine is stamped in yellow. Octavo. 220pps. There is a slight, nearly imperceptible lean to the spine, otherwise Fine: clean, bright, and soundly bound. The textblock is immaculate; no apparent reading wear and no previous ownership markings. The boldy colorful dustjacket, glossy in a new mylar sleeve, has a small touch of wear at the top of the rear flap; the original price (5.50) is intact. An excellent, collector's-quality copy. ".Maggie Tressider, lovely and famous singer, was on her way to a concert when her car skidded on a curve and crashed. She woke up in the hospital, not too seriously hurt but disoriented -- and haunted. Haunted by the terrible conviction that somewhere, somehow, in a forgotten corner of her life, she had been the cause of a man's death. Her doctor, understandably, suggested that perhaps a psychiatrist was in order. But Maggie insisted on a private detective. She wanted facts -- she was sure of her guilt. This is how Francis Killian came into the picture, and in looking for Maggie's victim (real or imaginary, he wasn't first sure), he found a great deal more than he had bargained for, including a desperate love for his client. The trail to Maggie's past leads to the mountains of the Vorarlberg in Czechoslovakia where, in the midst of seemingly tranquil, sylvan beauty, old ghosts rise in a material and most threatening form."
