408 p. 21 cm. Rebound in half burgundy leather with burgundy cloth, and new marbled endpapers. In grey slipcase using an original label. Pages browned with some light stains. Repair at top of p. 9. Title continues: "Including Also, A Distinct History of Each Individual State; Its Manners and Customs, Trade, Commerce, Religion, and Government, Manufactures and Agriculture, Climate, Soil, and Produce, with New Tables of the Whole of Their Imports and Exports, Revenue, Debt, Expenditure, Currency of Coins, &c. &c. &c. To Which is Annexed, An Account of New Discoveries." Apparently a piracy of the History of America by Jedidiah Morse, the notable geographer whose textbooks became a staple for students in the United States. Begins with brief description of British America (pp. 16-32). The "New Discoveries" occupy four leaves at the end and contain accounts of Captain Cook's discoveries of the Sandwich Islands and Nootka Sound. Sabin 57181. Seller Inventory # 115445
