Slight shelf-wear on the covers and mild denting at the top and bottom of the spines. Very clean and tight with no annotations, and no significant tears or creases inside. Printer's Library bookplates on front end-paper. Volume 1: The Celtic Church. Volume 2: The Movement Towards Rome, The Medieval Church, and The Reformation. Volume 3: The Modern Church. The editor, Walter Alison Phillips, was an English historian, a specialist in the history of Europe in the 19th century. From 1914 to 1939 he was the first holder of the Lecky chair of History in Trinity College, Dublin.
