About this Item

Born in Berlin, Walter Bensen was the son of the staff surgeon to a proud imperial guards regiment. He entered an artillery regiment at the Russian border in 1913 and served throughout Word War One leaving the army in 1919. 177pp qith black and white plates. Seller Inventory # 22420sC4

The book shop was established in 2001 and is housed in a listed 17th century building. The village of Farningham has iron age origins, with much Roman settlement, and is today still predominantly 18th century in character. The shop is named after Wadard, one of Farningham's Domesday landlords, a henchman of Bishop Odo, William the Conquerers brother,and featured on the Bayeaux tapestry.
