FIRST EDITION OF THIS WORK BY THE SECRETARY OF HENRY FORD'S PEACE SHIP. Ford's initial attempts to end WWI are depicted here. Described are the hectic days of preparation, the crossing of the Atlantic, the slogan "Out of the trenches by Christmas," the campaign of ridicule and misrepresentation, conflicts and successes, Ford's desertion of the ship and the sequel in which Ford became involved in the munitions industry. A significant event in its time the book impressed Maxim Gorky so much, that he wrote a preface in hopes of persuading Europeans and Americans to renounce war as a method for settling differences.
