About this Item
First edition. 8vo. (220)pp. Original paper covered boards, textured to look like rough linen; with lettered in white to spine label and title-label on front cover; bright red endpapers; unread, unmarked, pristine in the lovely blue dust-jacket featuring an abstracted rorschach ink blot test; a few chips and a 1cm tear to bottom edge; spine and edges very slightly rubbed; a well presented copy. Ableman's modern masterpiece follows the broken and often fantastical experiences of its schizophrenic narrator. Inspired by Kafka, Joyce and Beckett, Ableman's book was well received and instantly acclaimed when first published in 1958. Seller Inventory # 10453
