About this Item
Winner of the 1966 John Burroughs Medal; a book about the life of herring gulls on an island off the Maine coast. Illustrated with photographs and drawings by Darling, and with a foreword by Roger Tory Peterson, whose recommendation of Louis and Lois Darling to Rachel Carson had resulted in the Darlings illustrating Silent Spring in 1962. An uncommon first edition. Slightly musty; near fine in a very good dust jacket with a couple of small edge chips on the rear panel. Unless otherwise noted, our first editions are first printings.
