About this Item
Green illustrated cloth boards with red lettering. Rubbing to head and heel of spine and corners, light sunning to edges, moderate general wear and soil to boards. Ex-library copy with embossed stamp to title page, discard stamp to dedication page, several handwritten notations to copyright page. Previous owner has written name at upper margin of half title and on front pastedown in thick black ink, and someone has also drawn multiple circles on the front endpaper in ball point pen. Text is otherwise lovely and clean, illustrated thoughout with wonderful woodcut illustrations by Nonny Hogrogian. "Scottish literature teems with instances of the supernatural, and Scottish superstition is proverbial. Scottish folk whose roots are in the Highlands confess freely to belief in the weird and uncanny, and even the more practical Lowlanders will sometimes admit that "There may be something to it." The stories in Gaelic Ghosts come from the highlands, some from old story tellers now long dead, some handed down through the years.". Seller Inventory # M12421
