About this Item

Just hints of wear to extremities, cloth clean, gilt bright, else near fine to fine with no internal markings. Dust jacket slightly shelfworn and very lightly soiled, but not price-clipped. Born in Tuscaloosa, Thomas W. Palmer was educated in the University of Alabama and Harvard Law School and studied in Spain as a Sheldon Fellow. In 1919 he began to practice law in Chile, which was just opening to foreign investment, as an attorney for Chile Copper Company. For more than three decades he lived and worked as a "gringo" in Mexico, Panama, Venezuela, Chile, Colombia, and Argentina representing many companies with holdings in Latin America, including petroleum companies.
