Presentation copy, "To Lady Dorothy Nevill with the author's very kind regards, Xmas 1904". Amongst other things, Lee was sub-editor of the Dictionary of National Biography. The red gilt decorated covers are bright and clean and as new except for a patch at the foot of the spine where there is fading. This condition is because this copy unusually still has its complete dust jacket - rather darkened generally, and worn at extremities. Top edge gilt but dusty. The rear free endpaper has the remains of a childs illustration, now mostly erased and faint, but still visible. Seller Inventory # Gleesgr023
