About this Item
Oblong Quarto. (2) 61 Leaves, many with tissue guards. Original bolted orange wraps with company logo on cover. One double leaf laid in with stamp of the carpenter Ernst Matthias in Stendal, Saxony, on front leaf, most likely the agent for the furniture manufacturer. The extensive offerings by F. Each set is named after a German city, e.g. Hannover, Kà nigsberg, Aachen, Dessau, etc. The set on the laid in double page is named "Wotan" and is reminiscent of the Wilhelminian style whereas the sets in the bolted catalog clearly show the influence of the era of New Objectivity, though featuring some nonfigurative ornamentation of the sets furnished with precious wood. All images are reproduced lithographically and furnished with specifications and measurements of the respective items. The latter part of the catalog features increasingly modern furniture with four of the designs, Mainz, Darmstadt, Bingen and Trier, approved for the National Advertising Show 1938 by the Reichskammer der bildenden Künste (Reich Chamber of Culture). Text in German. Wraps with some wear along edges, chips and creasing along foredge, small closed tears and lightly sunned along edges. Wraps in overall good-, interior in very good condition.
