First Edition. An acceptable condition book written by H. V. Hilprecht. This copy has moderate wear and marks to the original red boards and front board has come loose at the top. Spine is significantly scuffed and faded. Internal contents are in excellent shape overall with clear, vivid and bright pages. This book is marked 'Acceptable' as the frontispiece is loose and the title page is missing. A few tidy annotations on the front endpage and margins, none of which obscure the text. Binding is quite tight throughout but does have a crack in the hinge by the front and back board. Overall a stellar reading copy with lovely pages and largely solid construction. Includes two beautifully kept maps within the pages towards the centre, over sixty illustrations and a detailed index. Acceptable: a readable copy. All pages and the cover are intact (dust cover may be missing). Pages can include considerable notes--in pen or highlighter--but notes cannot obscure the text.
