About this Item
This VG- quality and likely first edition book was copyrighted in 1911 and is published by Hurst & Co.; it is 7-5/8" tall with 305 numbered pages of text followed by 8 unnumbered pages of ads. This book has a cream colored cloth binding with dark blue lettering. The book is square, very clean, free of edge dings with all four corners lightly bumped; the head and heel of the spine are bumped with slight fraying and color loss; the bottom edges have little wear. The spine is heavily soiled but the lettering is very clear--some of the white paint on the small image has flaked off. The front panel image is reasonably clean and has very little wear. And it certainly has all the patriotic colors! The interior is free of writing and stray marks and page damage of any type; perhaps as many as 10-15 pages have faint finger print and smudge marks in the margins. Both hinges are quite strong and not damaged in any fashion. The text paper is very mildly toned and is quite flexible. The book has no remainder mark and is not a former library book. It has a frontis on coated paper and 3 internal illustrations on plain paper. The list at the back of the book lists the first 2 books in this series, both published in 1911.
