About this Item
The Dehua kilns in Fujian Province are well known as the producers and exporters of exquisite creamy white glazed figurines during the mid to late Qing period and many of these objects remain sought-after collectors' items. The present monograph and catalogue expands upon this general knowledge to explore all types of products from this important southern kiln complex, over a six hundred year period from the Northern Song to the early 20th century. In addition to the expected creamy white glazed figures and vessels, there are many surprises in this catalogue, including early pale blue- and white-glazed vessels, a Ming chocolate brown-glazed Guanyin related to the better known white glazed counterparts, as well as high quality underglaze blue and polychrome wares. An important contribution to our understanding of the Dehua kilns. Scholarly essay on the archaeology of the Dehua kilns and all captions in bilingual English / Chinese. 144 pp., 113 col. and 14 b&w plates, 28 line drawings, 4 maps. Now out of print and difficult to find. Size: 29 x 21 cm. Seller Inventory # 001306
