First UK Edition. Publisher's original navy blue cloth, front and spine panels stamped in red. First edition in English. Front hinge professionally repaired and light foxing to the fore-edge otherwise a really nice VG+ copy with foxing to both sets of end-papers and the early/late pages of the book. Uncommon especially in bright and attractive condition. The basis for the 1922 silent movie (Dr Mabuse: The Gambler) directed by Fritz Lang. The film is included in the book 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die, being the first of five Lang films to be entered. Recently re-filmed (in 2013) under the direction of Ansel Faraj with Jerry Lacy as Dr Mabuse. Seller Inventory # 355490715554
