About this Item
The Curwen Press News Letter No. 12. June 1936. The surrealistic cover design is an original lithograph by Graham Sutherland (Ref. Tassi 36), described by Pat Gilmour in her book 'Artists At Curwen', as a "rather splendid bivalve design with rich red and black crayoning". Oliver Simon in his autobiography, 'Printer and Playground', writes, "From June 1932 to May 1939 sixteen numbers of The Curwen Press News Letter were issued. Five hundred copies were printed of this slender crown quarto, averaging eight to twelve pages an issue in addition to a cover for each number". A fine copy. Seller Inventory # 1472
