Fine in a Near Fine Dust Jacket. Possibly Unread. The Text Block is clean, white, tight, straight and square with a blue topstain (faded for about 1" from the spine), deckled fore-edges and no markings of any kind. The Binding is full blue cloth slightly faded at top and bottom edges, bright silver author's name to front board, bright gilt and silver title, etc., to spine, unmarked white endpapers, very small prior owner's name plate hidden behind the front flap, and all corners square and still mostly sharp. The Dust Jacket is bright, with color uniform throughout, and mostly intact with a chip at the bottom of the spine and a tear at the top front near the spine (discreetly closed from behind with archival (pH neutral) materials), and the original price intact on the front flap. The author's fifth novel, it centers on explicit sexual entanglements of ten couples in a small Massachusetts town, set against prevailing Protestant mores and the political events of the early 1960s.
