Very good condition used Hardback. There is no publisher or publication /printing date shown other than the 1890-1 date to book spine and to inside title page. Circa 1891 First Edition published by Gloucestershire Council, England (or published privately by Gloucestershire Council member). Author: Gloucestershire Council. Approx dims: 220mm h x 145mm w x 43mm d. Intact clean condition quarter leather bound green boards with gilt lettering to spine and gilt emblem to front cover board plus leather strengthened corners. Intact spine with 5 raised bands. There is some rubbing and slight fraying to corners and edges of boards, otherwise in very good condition. Marble effect pattern to page ends and inside front and back leafs. 560 clean, slightly off white pages of English text, plus one intact b&w fold-out Plan of the River Twyver, plus five b&w sectional diagrams at Crickley Valley, Birdlip, Witcomb Beds, Newent Sandstones and the Old Coal Shaft. There are no inscriptions, no ownership stamps and no highlighting anywhere within this book. All pages are firmly attached to the spine. Image shown is actual book for sale. Synopsis: ''There is a list of Mayor, Aldermen and Councillors after the title page. The Mayor is named as Joseph John Seeking and Deputy Mayor as George Henry Edwards. There are then a total of 324 pages relating to meetings of the council. The next page is a summons to council members to attend the Quarterly Meeting of the Council of the City of Gloucester, acting as such, as Urban and Port Sanitary Authorities and as the Burial Board, to be held at the Town Hall on Monday 10th November 1890. The following pages show the summary of 145 matters minuted and resolved for the above meeting. There then follows more summarised minutes of other Town Council Meetings throughout the year 1890-1. There is then a 32 page Report of the Medical Officer of Health to the Gloucester Urban Sanitary Authority for 1890. The report discusses the effect of two epidemics within Gloucester during 1890, which were an outbreak of Russian Influenza and Measles. This report also includes: Tables of Births, Sickness and Deaths; a report on a fire at the Atlas Works, Gloucester 15th Sept 1890; a b&w fold-out Plan of the River Twyver. There is then 27 pages of some Reports by Mr William Fox, Mr Robert Etheridge on the Best Means of Increasing the Water Supply of the City of Gloucester dated June and July 1891, including five b&w sectional diagrams at Crickley Valley, Birdlip, Witcomb Beds, Newent Sandstones and the Old Coal Shaft. There is then 34 pages concerning Regulations under the Weights & Measures Act. There is then 13 pages concerning Bye-Laws with respect to the Sale of Coal in the City of Gloucester and Management, Use and Regulation of the Public Baths. There is then 119 pages concerning Statement of Receipts and Expenditure of the City of Gloucester for year ending March 31st 1891, by A.B. Clutterbuck, City Accountant.
