First edition, limited to 1,000 numbered copies printed at The Fanfare Press (this being #851). Tall 8vo. 86pp. Quarter brown leather-backed boards, lettered in gold at the spine. With a small title page device designed by Stephen Gooden. A tiny trace of wear to the tip of a single corner and some light partial toning to the endpapers. A very good copy in slightly nicked and toned dust wrapper. The author's final work, which he was still writing at the time of his death. It was originally intended as a general introduction to the uniform edition of his works, but expended so considerably as to warrant separate publication, even though only about half of what he planned was completed, and only a portion of that revised.
