This is no. 1,026 of 1,500 copies, so stated on the limitation page. NOT ex-library. In the original medium-duty binding. Oxford red buckram binding, with crisp gilt-stamped lettering and design to the front board and to the spine. Also with a blind-stamped border to the front board. Exceptionally clean and well-preserved binding with just a trace of fingering marks. Generally unbumped spine head and tail, and the four corners very slightly abraded, trivial. Text block firmly bound in. 9.5 x 7 inches. T.E.G. With xvi and 326 numbered pages of text, plus unnumbered pages of plates. With color frontispiece plus Plates nos. 59 through 134, 23 of which are in color. Heavy coated stock for the plates. The frontispiece plate with tissue guard, the guard with lettering describing the plate. No writing, staining, or internal foxing observed, save for a few pages with faint age-spotting, trivial. Neatly pasted on to the front pastedown is a a very small and crisp emblem in the style of a rooster head, as if part of an escutcheon. On the rear pastedown in the top corner appears a very small and discreet paste-on stamp from a San Francisco bookseller. Else a very clean and serviceable copy, and rather tight. Gently read.
