1st edition hardcover in blue cloth boards with elaborate gilt and black embellishments and title on frt board and backstrip. Boards rubbed and soiled from handling, now in protective mylar and displays well on the shelf. Lovely floral endpapers, no date or printing numbers indicated. Believed to be a first edition circa 1890s. Former owner's name stamp on fep. Moderate foxing on prelims including tissue guarded frontis and title page, remainder of text clear. Many beautiful engravings and line illustrations. 319 pp, all edges gilt. Hinges fine, a well made book describing insect, bird and wild life found in and around water. A beautiful offering for any nature lover.
