A catalog of an exhibition dedicated to the tragedy that happened in Tokyo during WWII. On the night of 9-10 March 1945 the air raids by American forces destroyed a half of the city killing on average 100 000 civilians. It was the first documented massive use of napalm for military purposes. Yu-Ichi Inoue (1916-1985) was a Japanese calligrapher who processed the deep senses of trauma and guilt through his art. His exhibition in Germany 50 years later has brought the question of massacre witnessing and war stigma to the light. Text in German and Japanese. Calligraphy in Japanese. 239/300. 29,3x13,5cm. 34 pp. Oblong folding album with black and white reproductions. Black hardcover binding with blind embossing on the top cover. Comes with a supplement, contenting a curatorial statement in German and Japanese, in an unpaginated accordion folded sheet. Original clamshell box. Fine condition. Seller Inventory # 1421
