[1921, date from British Library]. Hardback, Good. Blue cloth with yellow and gilt illustration and lettering to front and spine. Boards slightly bumped to corners, with a few blemishes to the front and back. Binding strong. Small bookseller sticker to front pastedown. Light tanning to endpapers. Pencilled ownership signature from 1923 to ffep. 277pp. Illustration adjacent to p.264 is loose from the block. Foxing to rear pastedown, otherwise contents clean and bright. Top edge of the page block stained blue. Frank H. Shaw (1878-1960) was a UK naval officer and author who was in active service during World War One; his stories appeared very widely in Boys' Papers from early in the twentieth century, with an estimated 7,000 stories to his credit and seventy or more books.
