Monte Carlo: Andre Sauret / New York: George Brazier, 1959. 8vo, xvi, 247 p., original yellow cloth stamped in blue. First edition in English of this scarce reference work which collects the poster work of Georges Braque, Marc Chagall, Raoul Dufy, Fernand Lager, Henri Matisse, Joan Miro and Pablo Picasso up to 1959. The posters, reproduced by the Mourlot Freres, are numbered on rectos only, with descriptive catalogue at rear. Despite the high quality of the plates, this was a cheaply made and poorly bound book. This is a G+ copy only. The center of the textblock is sectioned, with several signatures loose and some plates loose and/or proud. Plate 45-the Matisse plate which is reproduced on the front jacket panel - is missing from this copy. Light smudging to the outer margins of one plate; faint tanning to plate edges; faint staining and minor soiling to cloth, but a decent copy overall, in a VG- jacket, with chip to upper front jacket panel, chipping and chafing to upper jacket edge, in a heavily cracked and chipped acetate overlay.
