1st ed., octavo, cloth boards, b&w author frontis portrait plate, b&w plates, some off-setting to title-page, pp xv. 164 plus publisher's ctalogue. Professionally restored: original blindstamped front board and rear board, new cloth spine titled in gilt. Previous owner's signature, dated 1921. Light rubbing to edges. Very good condition. Rare first edition. William Tilden was a championship tennis player for many years. He is often considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time. He won numerous Grand Slam titles and was the first American man to win Wimbledon (in 1920, the year of publication). Seller Inventory # 99695
