This is a defense of America against the criticisms of Captain Basil Hall and Mrs. Frances Trollope. The author (1789-1857) was a prolific journalist. He was London correspondent for the New York Observer from 1831 to 1835. He wrote political tracts for the Whig party under the name of ÒJuniusÓ and edited the works of Henry Clay. He also wrote biographies of Clay. Twelvemo. xii, 389, [1], [2, ads] pp. Original cloth with printed paper spine label. Binding lightly spotted, binding extremities worn, label rubbed, back hinge cracked, but cords sound. A decent copy of a fragile book, very clean internally. First edition. Seller Inventory # 12932
