THE WRAPPER : The wrapper on this copy ( artwork by Bip Pares ) is clean and bright. It is unclipped. The front panel is bright, showing minor wear to the edges and corners. The spine is unfaded. It is gently rubbed and scuffed at the ends. There is a 2cm closed tear running up from the foot of the spine. The back panel is sound. It is gently soiled and shows light wear to the edges and slight nicking at the corners. Looks bright in protective plastic. THE BOOK : The book is tight. The boards are bright and unfaded. The corners are sharp. There is a touch of trivial bruising to the spine ends. The text block is clean. No foxing. The closed page edges are slightly dusty. There are no loose or dog-eared pages. Royde-Smith was the first woman literary editor of the Westminster Gazette and in that capacity published the early work of such writers as Rupert Brooke, Graham Greene, Elizabeth Bowen, and Rose Macaulay.
